“The Voice Australia” has been a launching pad for everyday Aussies with incredible vocal prowess, propelling them to stardom and kickstarting their music careers. Whilst an official prize has not yet been confirmed, we can assume it will be something worth while. For instance, 2022 winner Lachie Gill took home $100,000 cash plus a recording contract with Universal Music Australia.

Now, with its 12th season on the horizon, the show promises to deliver even more talent, drama, and excitement as coaches and contestants vie for the coveted winning title.

Here’s everything you need to know about “The Voice Australia” 2023.

When Does “The Voice Australia” 2023 Air?

“The Voice Australia” 2023 will premiere on Sunday, August 6 at 7.00pm on Channel 7 and 7 Plus.

Who Are the Coaches?

The show consists, yet again, of a star-studded line-up of coaches. Returning to “The Voice Australia” is renowned “Australian Idol” alumni Jessica Mauboy and Guy Sebastian, along with British singer-songwriter Rita Ora. And months of speculating who would fill the spinning red chair vacated by Keith Urban on “The Voice Australia” we finally have answers! Seven Network confirmed in May that Jason Derulo will be joining the show as a coach in 2023.

Derulo is excited to be joining the hit show, stating that he has always loved “The Voice” and Australia.

“I’ve always loved ‘The Voice’ and Australia happens to be one of my favourite places in the world. I can’t wait to hear all the amazing talent down under!” He said in a press release.

While fans will surely miss Keith Urban’s presence on the show, the singer decided to take a step back from the coaching panel to prioritise spending quality time with his family.

Who Are the Contestants on “The Voice Australia” 2023?

As of now, the full lineup of contestants for “The Voice Australia” 2023 has not been revealed. However, the show is known for showcasing top-tier singing talent from across Australia.

We’ve been given a glimpse at just some of the talent to expect in the upcoming season. This includes 12-year-old Gezel Bardossi, whose blind audition leaves the coaches in disbelief. We were also introduced to a father-daughter duo Chris Watson and Shanae.

Chris, a 53-year-old postman from country Victoria, entered the blind auditions not to win, but to inspire his daughter Shanae. While 23-year-old Shanae has always dreamt of singing on “The Voice” stage but has faced moments of self-doubt that shook her confidence. We can already feel the waterworks coming.

And we know there’s so much more to come! The process typically starts with 100 singers getting the opportunity to participate in a blind audition in front of the coaches. The coaches then select 48 contestants (12 per coach) to proceed to the battle round, where they engage in sing-offs against someone from their respective teams. The top six contestants from each team then advance to the live performances, where the Australian public votes on a winner.

Who Is the Host?

Television veteran Sonia Kruger will return as the host of “The Voice Australia” for the 2023 season. Sonia first joined the show alongside co-host Darren McMullen in 2015. She then took on the hosting duties alone from 2016 to 2019.

After an absence in 2020 where Renee Bargh and Darren McMullen co-hosted, Sonia returned as host in 2021 where she has remained ever since.
