Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson Dance Their Way Down the Cannes Red Carpet

America’s mom and dad crossed the pond to enjoy a stylish night out at the Cannes Film Festival. On May 23, Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks stopped by the Palais des Festivals for the premiere of “Asteroid City,” the upcoming Wes Anderson film they appear in together. The longtime couple had the time of their lives on the red carpet, joining hands to dance along to the music and posing with their youngest son, 27-year-old Truman, who tagged along for the special occasion. The stars matched in custom Versace outfits – a black caped dress with hand-embroidered beading for Wilson and a black suit and bowtie for Hanks.

While making their way into the event, the parents of four were photographed having what appeared to be a heated conversation with a festival staffer. News stories quickly popped up claiming that Hanks yelled at the employee, but Wilson swiftly put the rumor mill to rest, sharing the backstory of what actually went down on her Instagram Stories. “‘This is called I can’t hear you. People are screaming. What did you say? Where are we supposed to go?'” she wrote. “But that doesn’t sell stories! Nice try. We had a great time!”

Several other “Asteroid City” cast members celebrated its Cannes debut with their spouses. Scarlett Johansson, who portrays a 1950s movie star in the sci-fi comedy, hit the red carpet with husband Colin Jost. Steve Carell, Bryan Cranston, Adrien Brody, and Rupert Friend also each brought their respective partners, making for some sweet couple moments.

Wilson and Hanks, who’ve been married since 1988, last made a joint appearance at Cannes in 2006 for “The Da Vinci Code” premiere. Read ahead to check out all the wholesome footage of the beloved duo’s latest stroll down the red carpet.
