8 Movies and Shows to Watch If Enola Holmes Has You Ready For More Sherlockian Adventures

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes has been around for literal ages, but our hunger for mysteries and great capers is never-ending. Similarly, there’s never an end to the adaptations of the classic detective and his adventures, like Netflix’s latest star-studded affair, Enola Holmes. The family-friendly flick, which premiered on Sept. 23, follows the adventures of Enola (Millie Bobby Brown), the younger sister of famed detective Sherlock (Henry Cavill) and government official Mycroft (Sam Claflin). Enola sets out to find her missing mother, Eudoria (Helena Bonham Carter), who disappears on Enola’s 16th birthday and leaves her with nothing but money and a cipher decoder.

Elementary

This modern take on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic stars Jonny Lee Miller as Sherlock Holmes and Lucy Liu as a gender-swapped Dr. Joan Watson. The show follows Holmes, a recovering drug addict and former consultant to Scotland Yard, as he works with Watson and the NYPD to solve crimes throughout the series’s seven seasons.

John C. Reilly and Will Ferrell bring the funny as Dr. Watson and Detective Sherlock Holmes, respectively, in Holmes & Watson. The duo investigates a seemingly open-and-shut murder mystery at Buckingham Palace that quickly goes awry as they attempt to catch the killer before the queen becomes the next victim.

Sherlock Gnomes

Gnomes have gone missing and there’s only one man – er, gnome – who can take the case: Sherlock Gnomes. The film follows the clay detective as he teams up with Watson to investigate the mysterious disappearances, alongside Gnomeo and Juliet.

Sherlock Holmes (2009)

Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law put an action-adventure spin on the classic detective duo in this Guy Ritchie-directed flick. Holmes and Watson track a string of brutal murders by Lord Blackwood (Mark Strong), a devotee of the dark arts. The pair dive headfirst into the world of the occult when Blackwood seemingly raises from the grave after his execution.

Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law return when Austria’s crown prince is found dead, and it all seems to be a plot of an evil genius named Moriarty (Jared Harris). The duo chase Moriarty across Europe to thwart his plot before it comes to fruition.

The Great Mouse Detective
