Michelle Obama Started the "Prom Challenge" With a Throwback Pic, and Celebs Followed Suit
Michelle Obama transported followers to 1982 on Wednesday with a throwback prom photo from her high-school days. The former First Lady has been our style icon since she became a public figure, but this "Prom Challenge" picture also shows she had fashion as a teen, too. The high slit on her pink satin polka-dot dress? Legendary. Her look is so great, it inspired celebrities like Tracee Ellis Ross and Kerry Washington to share photos of their prom outfits too.
These blasts from the past serve as a helpful (and timely) reminder for Americans to register to vote, too. "If you're a student or teacher, join the #PromChallenge with @WhenWeAllVote and @MTV and tell us what your school is doing to register students to vote -- you could get a free prom for your school! Learn more at prom.mtv.com," Michelle, a When We All Vote cochair, wrote in her caption. "You can also help me spread the word by posting your prom photo with #PromChallenge." According to MTV's website, up to 20 schools will be selected to receive up to $5,000 for their dream prom. Ahead, see how other celebrities celebrated the #PromChallenge. Tracee, we bow down to your badass high-school self and that Armani ensemble.
