Everything You Need to Know About the New and Improved 2021 Logies

In 2020 we had to miss a lot of things — human contact and the absence of Instagram feeds full of home baked sourdough, for example.

We also had to miss one of the biggest nights of the Australian entertainment industry when the decision was made to cancel the annual TV Week Logie Awards entirely, instead of holding the celebration over Zoom.

Thankfully, and obviously the COVID-19 situation pending, the glamorous event is returning in 2021 and will once again take place at The Star Gold Coast in Queensland.

The awards show will occur a little later than usual, taking place on November 28 instead of its usual June date.

Thanks to last year’s postponement, there will be even more content up for consideration as it will cover the second half of 2019, all of 2020 and the first half of 2021 will be eligible for nominations, yet the number of overall categories will remain the same — and phew, because otherwise we’d be looking at one very long ceremony.

TV Week Editor Amber Giles said in a press statement, “TV WEEK is thrilled to have landed on a date we know we can deliver a spectacular show on.

“After spending way too much time on the couch in stretchy pants over the past 12 months, it’s important to us and our partners that we come together at a time when we can all frock up and be in the same room.

“We can’t wait to head back to The Star Gold Coast to celebrate and honour the best in Australian TV in the style for which we’re famous.

“On November 28, we look forward to seeing on the red carpet all those who have kept us entertained and informed during trying times.”

And let’s be honest, given the iso-induced anxiety so many of us felt in 2020, the idea of celebrating the people and programs who kept us sane feels pretty darn good right now!

As of now, no details have been released as to who will host the event, but Channel 9 will be the official broadcaster as usual.
