Here’s Where to Watch Spencer Before the 2022 Academy Awards

Pablo Larrain

With the Oscar Awards slowly creeping up, it makes perfectly good sense that you would want to watch every movie and performance that has been nominated this year. One of them is Spencer, the Princess Diana biopic starring Kristen Stewart.

Nominated for her stunning portrayal of the late royal, Kristen Stewart completely embodies the character and manages to pull at the viewer’s heartstrings as she deals with grief and isolation

Unlike other movies and shows based on Princess Di’s life, Spencer is an imagining of the final moments of her marriage to Prince Charles. A time in which rumours of an affair and divorce were rife. Set at the Queen’s Sandringham Estate over the Christmas period, Diana is shown to have mentally checked out of the relationship and was quickly planning her exit.

With her husband having an affair with Camilla Parker Bowles, Lady Di was ready to part ways with the royal family once and for all.

Directed by Pablo Larrain and written by Steven Knight, Spencer stars Timothy Spall, Jack Farthing, Sean Harris and Sally Hawkins. Not only has Stewart received an Academy Award nod for her role as Diana, but she was also nominated for Best Actress at the Golden Globe Awards and Critics’ Choice Movie Awards.

Kristen has received widespread critical acclaim for her bang-on performance, nailing the royal’s signature soft-spoken demeanour and mannerisms. Whether she wins or not is yet to be seen, as she’s up against some formidable names in the industry.

While the film doesn’t paint the prettiest picture of the royal family, it does take you into the mind of Princess Diana and allows you to feel her sorrow and jealousy as she watches her husband love somebody else.

So Where Can You Stream it Before March 28?

Spencer will be available to watch on Amazon Prime Video Australia and New Zealand from Friday, February 18.
