13 Guys Who’ve Been Able to Call Emma Watson Their Girlfriend

Emma Watson has never been too fond of having the spotlight on her love life. In fact, she prefers to keep much of her personal life private, unless she ever feels the need to address rumors head-on.

In May 2021, the Harry Potter star shut down speculation that she was engaged to her current boyfriend Leo Robinton in a tweet that reads, “Dear Fans, rumours about whether I’m engaged or not, or whether my career is ‘dormant or not’ are ways to create clicks each time they are revealed to be true or untrue.” In another, she added, “If I have news – I promise I’ll share it with you.”

Watson’s first public relationship was with rugby player Tom Ducker in 2006. The pair dated for a year before they called it quits, with her rep confirming in a statement to The Sun, per The Irish Examiner, that the former pair “just drifted apart as teenagers do.”

Since then, Watson has tried her best to not discuss her relationships in interviews, though she previously told Glamour it’s tough to avoid dating speculation as a celebrity. “[Being famous is] difficult on my dating life, because anyone I get photographed with is automatically my boyfriend,” she told the outlet in September 2012. “So, it just makes it look as if I’ve had, like, 6,000 boyfriends.”

In a February 2017 interview with Vanity Fair, Watson further explained why she’s so adamant about not discussing past or current boyfriends. “I want to be consistent: I can’t talk about my boyfriend in an interview and then expect people not to take paparazzi pictures of me walking around outside my home. You can’t have it both ways,” she said. “I’ve noticed, in Hollywood, who you’re dating gets tied up into your film promotion and becomes part of the performance and the circus. I would hate anyone that I were with to feel like they were in any way part of a show or an act.”

Over the years, Watson has been connected to fellow actors, Oxford University students, and even a tech CEO. She even faced dating rumors with her Harry Potter costar Tom Felton, though their relationship is strictly platonic. So who is she dating now? Read ahead to get a full breakdown of her dating history and current relationship status.

Boulle also explained why he decided to break things off with the actor. “I have always been an ambitious person, and I want to achieve my own notoriety for what I’ve done. That’s why I chose not to pursue it any longer, because I didn’t want to be the boyfriend of some child actress,” he said. “I actually really like Emma. She’s a really cool person. She’s a very different person to who she is in the media. That’s what I liked about her – she’s very interesting.”
