Hailee Steinfeld’s Dating History Includes a Famous Pop Star and, Reportedly, an NFL Player

While starring in Apple TV+’s “Dickinson” from 2019 to 2021, Hailee Steinfeld played a woman with a messy life. But the 26-year-old’s own love life is a more private matter.
The “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” star has been in the public eye ever since she was a teenager thanks to her Oscar-nominated breakout role in “True Grit.” However, she’s had a pretty average, non-scandalous dating history so far. Although she, like most Hollywood stars, has been the subject of tons of dating rumors, she’s actually only had a few relationships known to the public. And, ironically enough, the relationship that she kept the most private was the one with one of the biggest stars of the decade – aka, a former One Direction heartthrob (no, not Harry Styles).
In spite of this, we do know a few things about Steinfeld’s dating life. In her 2021 Cosmopolitan December/January cover story, she opened up about what she looks for in a partner, explaining that she wants someone “who is, first and foremost, loyal and honest but confident in themselves and able to do their thing while I do mine.” “It’s weird talking about it because it’s been in my head for so long,” she added.
She continued of her ideal other half, “Who do I want to take on the world with? What kind of person is that? What do they look like? What do they stand for? They’re not necessarily questions I have the answers to, but I’m asking the questions, whereas they didn’t occur to me before. That’s the part of my life I’m excited to be in, that I’m even thinking that way.”

Cameron Smoller (2016-2017)
Although Steinfeld was often rumored to be linked to other young Hollywood stars early in her career – most notably, Justin Bieber and her “Romeo and Juliet” costar Douglas Booth – she was actually in a relationship during most of that time. J-14 reported that she dated Cameron Smoller from 2016 to late 2017.
The couple frequently shared photos featuring each other on Instagram, and they made their public debut as a couple at a Golden Globes party in early 2017. He accompanied her to several other events that year, but the last photo either of them shared featuring each other was in November 2017. It’s safe to assume their breakup happened sometime late that year.

Niall Horan (2018)
Steinfeld and Horan were reportedly friends before they began dating; in a December 2017 Instagram post, he wished her a happy birthday and called her “the loveliest person on the planet and one of my best friends.” By February 2018, People reported that they were spotted on a date night, and from there, they were often seen together, although rarely showing up at formal events as a couple.
They were seen at a Backstreet Boys concert, at music events, and at casual dinners, among other sightings throughout 2018. In an interview with Cosmopolitan that year, the actor talked about falling in love, though without ever mentioning anyone by name.
“When you fall in love, you pick up on the tiniest things about yourself. I am one to spread out on the mattress and take up every inch of space. Now I don’t want to do that anymore. I want to make as much room for you as possible.”
However, it wasn’t to last. In December 2018, Entertainment Tonight confirmed her split with Horan.

Josh Allen (2023-)
Steinfeld appears to have a new romance in her life with Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen. Though the actor and NFL player have yet to weigh in on their dating speculation, a source close to Steinfeld told People on May 29 that the “cute couple” have been “hanging out for a few weeks.” The insider also noted that the relationship is “new, but they are having fun.” Reps for Steinfeld did not respond to POPSUGAR’s request for confirmation, and reps for Allen could not be reached.
Prior to his reported romance with Steinfeld, Allen dated his ex-girlfriend Brittany Williams for five years.
