These Are the Women Rumoured to be the 2020 Bachelorette
Rumours are already spinning about the possible identity of the next Bachelorette, and we're unlikely to find out the truth until much later this year. Network Ten "welcome speculation" on the subject, saying that many "talented and accomplished women have expressed interest" in the lovesick role, and they're only in the very early stages of casting.
Beverley McGarvey, the ViacomCBS Australia & New Zealand Chief Content Officer and EVP, told News.com.au in May that the they're still making their "final decisions" about the next Bachelorette. "We're fairly close," she confirmed, before adding that they're not likely to announce her identity until The Bachelor launches. "You don't want to take the oxygen out of one series when it's on air," she explained.
Still it's worth thinking about, if only to occupy our isolation-addled brains. Will it be a reality TV star, as four of our five Bachelorettes have been? Will we see another fan favourite rejected from The Bachelor/Bachelor in Paradise given the opportunity to wade through 20-odd buff, handsome men to find her perfect match? Or will we end up with a choice out of left-field, an unknown? Imagine: this year, we could have the first Australian Bachelorette who has never been on TV before.
