The Chicago native attended Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). After graduating, he started out as an assistant editor before moving into advertising. He worked for four years before he had enough money to create his film Uncle John and premiere it at SXSW in 2015.

Since Uncle John, Steven has directed episodes of SyFy’s Channel Zero (2017), Hulu’s The Act (2019), and Briarpatch (2019-2020). He was a consulting producer for 2018’s Nightflyer and a co-executive producer for both The Act and Briarpatch.

He's Frequently Collaborated With Erik Crary

Steven considers Erik his best friend and worked with him on Uncle John. Erik also produced while Steven directed Channel Zero, and they both worked on Nightflyers, The Act, and Briarpatch. In 2019, the pair signed a deal with Universal Content Productions to develop content.
