Watching MasterChef Women Support Each Other in the Immunity Challenge Was So Pure
At the end of last night's sushi train Immunity Challenge on MasterChef, immunity winner Amina Elshafei requested that the judges give immunity to all three women: her, Tracy Collins and Emelia Jackson.
She justified the ask by saying that they supported and motivated each other, working together like troopers. While judge Jock Zonfrillo declined the request, it illustrated the warmth and camaraderie — and the sense of women supporting women — in the MasterChef kitchen.
A few specific examples: Tracy and Emelia tried to convince Emelia to sing to bring a little music into the kitchen; Amina and Emelia assured Tracy when she was behind on prep that she could get everything done; Emelia wiped Tracy's dishes down as they set off on the train; and Emelia even tasted Amina's winning dishes because her ingredients weren't halal!
Talking to POPSUGAR Australia, Amina explained that the three women depended on each other for motivation and encouragement throughout the intense challenge — 20 serves each of five Asian-inspired dishes, with just two-and-a-half hours to prep. That alone, she thought, was enough reason to ask for immunity for them all. "There were many moments when we struggled and didn't think we would have completed our dishes," she said, "but our support for each other and the way we worked together was enough to ask for immunity for all three of us."
We weren't the only ones who were excited to see the three women work together in the challenge.
