BET Awards: Public Enemy Re-Create "Fight the Power" Video

Public Enemy Give "Fight the Power" a Star-Studded Remix For the 2020 BET Awards

If anyone is looking to kick off an award show with a message, the 2020 BET Awards has some notes. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the show started things off with a re-creation of Public Enemy's iconic "Fight the Power" music video with a modern twist. Chuck D and Flavour Flav were joined by a truly supreme lineup of artists to give the classic lyrics a new flavour, including Nas, Rapsody, YG, and The Roots' Black Thought.

The video's re-creation included footage from the various protests against police brutality in response to the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, and other Black victims, supporting the Black Lives Matter movement. Among many calls for system abolition and demands for justice, "Fight the Power" has never felt more timely. Watch the video above.
