If you love books as much as you love movies, then 2023 is set to be a very big year for you! As much fun as it is to imagine our favorite book characters in our own minds, it’s equally thrilling to see books made into movies.

2023’s slate of books becoming movies will include a wide range of stories, from new takes on iconic classics to adaptations of relatively recent bestsellers. The coming-of-age favorite “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret” is coming to the big screen, along with the children’s classic “Harold and the Purple Crayon.” The recent string of Agatha Christie adaptations continues with the eerie “A Haunting in Venice,” and Alice Walker’s seminal “The Color Purple” is getting a fresh take, translating the award-winning Broadway musical adaptation into a film musical. And, of course, we’ve got the would-be blockbusters, including the hotly anticipated “Dune Part Two” and the “Hunger Games” prequel “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.”

As that list proves, there’s really something for everyone in 2023’s coming attractions, and that’s not even all of them! Get a head start on your moviegoing plans for next year and take a look at our preview of the most-anticipated stories making the leap from the page to the screen in 2023.
