Here's Everything We Know About Disney+'s Ahsoka Series So Far

Chapter 13 of The Mandalorian, titled “The Jedi,” hints Ahsoka will be about Ahsoka’s search for Grand Admiral Thrawn – the ruthless imperial officer who was a main antagonist in Star Wars: Rebels. The last time fans saw him was in the series finale, in which he faces off with Jedi Padawan Ezra Bridger. The two were aboard Thrawn’s command ship when Ezra used the Force to call a group of whale-like creatures called purrgil to attack Thrawn’s fleet. The purrgil eventually jump into hyperspace, disappearing with Ezra and Thrawn, their whereabouts a mystery.

The last few seconds of Star Wars: Rebels show Ahsoka and the Mandalorian warrior Sabine Wren join forces to look for Ezra in space, implying the scene takes place after Chapter 13 of The Mandalorian. Ahsoka may meet up with Sabine in the show and then hunt down Thrawn if that’s true.

Since Christensen is set to return in Ahsoka as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, the show could also explore Ahsoka’s relationship with her former master, which soured when he went over to the dark side of the force. It’s possible she’ll communicate with him through a Force Ghost to give fans closure.

There’s been a lot of speculation about which characters will appear in Ahsoka, including Ahsoka’s old friend-turned-enemy Barriss Offee. In Star Wars: The Clone Wars, the two become close after training alongside each other as Padawans. But things take a turn for the worst when Barriss becomes disillusioned with the Jedi and bombs their Temple on Coruscant to make a statement against them. In the process, she blames Ahsoka for the crime, causing her to leave the Jedi Order.

Considering we never found out what happened to Barriss after Order 66 was executed, it’s a good theory she may appear in Ahsoka. However, while she may show up as an antagonist, Ahsoka’s determination to find Thrawn in The Mandalorian hints he’ll be the main villain in the show instead.

Ahsoka will take place around the same time as The Mandalorian, which is set about five years after Return of The Jedi following the fall of the Empire and the death of Darth Vader. Ahsoka also seems like it will take place right before Ahsoka and Sabine meet to search for Thrawn and Ezra in the finale of Star Wars: Rebels.

As of right now, only Dawson and Christensen are confirmed to appear in Ahsoka. However, Ewan McGregor may make a cameo if he reprises his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in a flashback to when he and Ahsoka worked alongside each other before Order 66 and before he died in A New Hope.

A lot of fans also want to see Aladdin‘s Mena Massoud play Ezra in Ahsoka. The actor himself has expressed interest in taking on the role, telling Screen Rant in September 2021 that although he hadn’t been cast in Ahsoka (yet), he was “manifesting” it. Besides him, fans are crossing their fingers Sabine’s voice actress, Tiya Sircar, brings her character to life in Ahsoka just like Katee Sackhoff did with Bo-Katan Kryze in Chapter 11 of The Mandalorian. Dawson previously revealed in a November 2020 interview with Vanity Fair that fans helped her get cast as Ahsoka in The Mandalorian, so it’s not far-fetched to think the same may happen with Massoud or Sircar.

There’s no trailer for Ahsoka just yet. So far, the only glimpse at the show fans have is the series’ official logo. After the logo was revealed in December 2020, fans noticed it seemed to include symbols from the World Between Worlds, a realm introduced in Star Wars: Rebels that allowed Ezra to time travel. The logo could imply Ahsoka will travel through time to see Skywalker in Ahsoka. Christensen is confirmed to appear in the series, so it’s plausible Ahsoka could reunite with her old master for real and not just through a flashback or Force Ghost.

Disney hasn’t announced the premiere date for Ahsoka. According to The Hollywood Reporter, production for the show won’t start until early 2022, meaning it may not air on Disney+ until later that year or even in 2023. But judging by all the rumours surrounding the series, its plot, and its cast, it seems like Ahsoka will be well worth the wait!
