Production for the movie adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestseller “It Ends With Us” is well underway. Filming officially kicked off in May, and we’ve started to get glimpses of what’s in store in the form of behind-the-scenes pictures of Blake Lively, Justin Baldoni, and Brandon Sklenar on set in Hoboken, New Jersey.

Most recently, it was announced that actor Jenny Slate, of “Marcel the Shell With Shoes On” fame, will play Ryle’s sister Alyssa, in the film, Deadline reported on May 1. Slate’s rep did not respond to POPSUGAR’s request for comment.

On Jan. 26, Deadline exclusively confirmed that Lively and Baldoni will star in the upcoming film, which is being developed with Wayfarer Studios and Sony Pictures. Baldoni, 39, will direct and executive produce as well. The 35-year-old Lively will also serve as an executive producer, in addition to Steve Sarowitz and Andrew Calof.

Hoover’s 2016 novel, which is loosely based on her mother, follows a girl named Lily (Lively) who meets a charming neurosurgeon named Ryle (Baldoni) after finishing college and moving to Boston. Despite his no-dating rule, Ryle makes an exception for Lily, and the two quickly develop a romance. However, not long after, Lily’s first love, Atlas (Sklenar), reenters her life, and her relationship with Ryle is put to the test.

Baldoni previously celebrated the news on Instagram. Alongside a video of Hoover’s cast announcement, the “Jane the Virgin” actor wrote, “Here we go!!!!” Lively also seemed to respond to the news, posting a sultry photo on her Instagram Stories debuting her darker hair color.

A release date for “It Ends With Us” has yet to be announced, but keep reading for everything we know about the film so far.
