Netflix Updates Elliot Page's Roles in Its Metadata

Netflix Is Making a Change For Elliot Page

HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA - FEBRUARY 12: Ellen Page attends the premiere of Netflix's
In response to Elliot Page's announcement that he is transgender, Netflix has updated his name on the platform. As of Tuesday, Page's credit across titles within Netflix's metadata no longer reflects his deadname. This is an important step forward for the platform, as it marks the first time they've actually made this change. The platform currently lists Josie Totah under her deadname for Champions. Why Netflix made the change for Page and not Totah is likely tied to Page's role as Vanya on The Umbrella Academy.

The official Netflix Twitter account tweeted their support of Page, saying, "So proud of our superhero! WE LOVE YOU ELLIOT! Can't wait to see you return in season 3!" Here's hoping that other streaming services follow Netflix's lead and that Netflix updates the outdated metadata of other transgender actors.
