Everything to Know About Jentorra in “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania”

Marvel has taken us to other planets and other timelines, and in “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” it’s spending most of the story in one of the strangest places yet: the Quantum Realm. As Ant-Man, the Wasp, and their allies battle to get home (and start the fight against Marvel’s latest big bad), they also encounter several new characters along the way, including a rebel leader named Jentorra. Is Jentorra just a minor character in the grand scheme of things, or could she play a larger role going forward?

Who Is Jentorra in “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania”?

When the Lang/Pym family get drawn into the Quantum Realm, they soon encounter the vast network of civilization that dwells there. Scott, aka Ant-Man, and his daughter, Cassie, meet Jentorra (played by Katy M. O’Brian), the leader of a group of rebels called the Freedom Fighters. She’s accompanied by other rebels, notably Quaz (William Jackson Harper) and Veb (David Dastmalchian).

Jentorra’s whole backstory isn’t given in the movie, but she and her group do have connections to the core cast. We learn that Janet van Dyne, the first Wasp, was also a Freedom Fighter during her time trapped in the Quantum Realm. Jentorra is also the one to reveal to the heroes that Janet indirectly allowed the villainous Kang to take over and rule the Quantum Realm. During her time there, Janet was tricked by Kang into helping him rebuild the power core that would let him escape. When she realized his true intentions, she made the core “expand” to be unusable, but instead, he took over the Quantum Realm. Now, the “locals” are rebelling, led by Jentorra’s Freedom Fighters. She assists the main heroes and is a leader in the uprising against Kang.

Who Is Jentorra in the Marvel Comics?

In the Marvel Comics, Jentorra is actually obliquely tied to a different Avenger storyline. She is a green-skinned magician and princess from the planet K’ai, a world in the Microverse (similar to “Quantumania”‘s Quantum Realm). Her powers include the ability to teleport and heal both herself and other beings.

When her planet comes under attack, she attempts to summon the Hulk for help, calling on him because he was once in love with her aunt, Queen Jarella. Unfortunately, the summons goes wrong, and one of the Hulk’s sons, Hiro-Kala, answers instead. It’s a smaller storyline, but there is a clear connection to her depiction in “Quantumania.” In both, she leads her people in a “micro” realm, using her leadership and her powers to fight off threats from a tyrant and restore peace.
