Barry Hall Is Ready to Prove Himself on SAS Australia

Channel 7

The countdown to SAS Australia is on, and Channel 7 have been slowly giving us previews as to what we can expect from the upcoming season. One of the celebrity contestants this year is Barry Hall, who is a former Australian rules footy player.

They used to call him “Big Bad Barry” and now, he is set to take on the SAS course in the upcoming season of SAS Australia, starting on February 21 on Channel 7. In a brand new teaser for the show, Barry opens up about his past and how he’s grown since then.

“I’ve got a bit of an anger issue,” said the AFL great. “I think I’ve got it fully under control, but I haven’t been put under those pressure situations.”

Reflecting on his reputation for being a hardball, Barry says: “I was so young and immature, I had a chip on my shoulder. Your biggest asset is your brain, I tried to use my brawn.”

In the sneak peek, the athlete is shown welling up when he starts to speak about his family: “No one likes to see a grown man cry. I didn’t realise how selfish I was until I had a wife and kids. I’m doing this course to make my boys proud.”

Hall is one of 17 Aussie celebs embarking on a life-altering experience, where former SAS soldiers subject them to physical and psychological tests from the real SAS selection process.

Completely cut off from the outside world, the famous personalities will be stripped of their plushy lifestyles and will be required to eat, sleep and train together in tough conditions.

Returning to guide the recruits is Chief Instructor Ant Middleton and Directing Staff Ollie Ollerton. Joining them for the very first time will be retired US Navy SEAL Clint Emerson and former British Special Forces soldier Dean Stott.

SAS Australia premieres on February 21 on Channel 7 and 7plus.
