Your First Look at Jenny Han's “The Summer I Turned Pretty” Series

According to Amazon, “‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ is a multigenerational drama that hinges on a love triangle between one girl and two brothers, the ever-evolving relationship between mothers and their children, and the enduring power of strong female friendship. It is a coming-of-age story about first love, first heartbreak, and the magic of that one perfect summer.” The main character is Isabel “Belly” Conklin.

“The Summer I Turned Pretty” stars Lola Tung, Jackie Chung, Rachel Blanchard, Christopher Briney, Gavin Casalegno, Sean Kaufman, Alfredo Narciso, and Minnie Mills, with Colin Ferguson and Tom Everett Scott.

We don’t have an exact date yet, but Amazon says the show will hit the streamer this summer.

The television show is based on a series of books by Jenny Han. Han wrote the pilot and is also the co-showrunner of the series alongside Gabrielle Stanton.

The book series “The Summer I Turned Pretty” consists of three books: “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” “It’s Not Summer Without You,” and “We’ll Always Have Summer.” It’s not clear if the new series will only adapt the first book, or if Amazon is planning to do one season for each book.

Amazon hasn’t announced how many episodes the series will have yet. The show is a first of its kind adaptation for the streamer, so it’s hard to guess.
