The God of Thunder is on a new quest for peace in Marvel’s upcoming “Thor: Love and Thunder.” In the fourth instalment of the Thor series following the events of “Avengers: Endgame,” our beloved hero, played by Chris Hemsworth, declares his “superhero-ing days are over” as he looks to start a new chapter of self-discovery.

Ahead of the movie’s July release, Marvel released new images from the film, including shots of Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, who’s become the new Mighty Thor, alongside Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie. The two sit together on a very official-looking throne, though we don’t yet know where or why that’s happening.

Marvel Studios released the first teaser trailer on April 18, giving fans a brief glimpse of what’s in store for Thor. Set to “Sweet Child O’ Mine” by Guns N’ Roses, the minute-and-a-half clip begins with Thor declaring his retirement just after the fall of his kingdom Asgard in the last Avengers film. “These hands were once used for battle; now they’re but humble tools for peace,” he says in the trailer. But according to the movie’s logline, Thor’s peace will be interrupted by galactic killer Gorr the God Butcher, played by Christian Bale, who’s on a mission to eliminate the gods.

The rest of the teaser marks the return of several franchise stars, including director Taika Waititi and Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, along with the other Guardians of the Galaxy. Fans also know that Marvel has promised that Valkyrie will become the MCU’s first LGBTQ+ hero in the new movie, but just how that will affect the plot – and who her romantic partner will be – remains to be seen.

Ahead, get more details on “Thor: Love and Thunder,” including the rest of the cast, release date, poster, and trailer.
