It's official: Netflix just renewed You for a creepy 10-episode third season. Come on — we couldn't expect Joe Goldberg to settle for a fairy-tale ending, right? But now that we know Joe is back, when exactly should we expect him to return? Well, soon.
On Tuesday, the official Twitter page for You tweeted a brief teaser with the caption, "See you soon, neighbour. YOU S3 is coming." The video itself flashed a snappy announcement that reads, "New year, new you. You S3." We know, we're obsessed with the pun as well.
According to a report from Deadline, the third season is set to premiere in 2021. Speculating from the release dates of the first two seasons, expect to see season three of You around the holidays, perhaps in early January. While season one technically premiered on Lifetime on Sept. 9, 2018, Netflix picked it up and released it on Dec. 26. Exactly a year later, Netflix dropped season two right after Christmas. There's a possibility that we could get season three even sooner, but we're just keeping our fingers crossed at this point
So let's talk a little about when in Joe's life we'll see him in the third season. Season two gave us the twistiest of twists, revealing Love to be an impassioned killer herself, first offing her au pair, then later murdering Delilah and Candace. She pays off the police to keep her and Joe dirt-free. We later see her with her mother and fully pregnant, greeting Joe as he carries bags inside their new home.
Just when we think Joe's stalker days are over, however, he's creeping on his book-flipping neighbour. If season three immediately picks up where the series ended, we'll see Joe juggling a newborn with a potential new victim. Something gives us the feeling that Love won't be pleased. But hey, soapy drama's just as big on You as the murders.
