Emilio Pucci Spring 2014
Peter Dundas has never been one to shy away from pattern or colour, and he infused heavy doses of both into Emilio Pucci's Spring 2014 collection. The designer stitched together a number of references — including some distinctly tribal motifs, hip-hop street wear, athletic gear, and '80s club attire — into a lineup of vibrant and delightfully incongruous pieces.
To wit: Dundas gave us basketball shorts (the abbreviated ones from the '70s, not today's long mesh affairs) cut from a silver material with a mirror-like finish. He took the toughness out of a leather shirt with sparkly embroidery and beading, and he elevated what would have been a standard blue tracksuit by covering it with sequins and leaving on its sporty zippers.
