Akira is renowned for his unique aesthetic — achieved as a result of his Japanese heritage and mind-blowing technical ability combined. So, as the only designer to show at MBFWA this year who also showed in the first Australian Fashion Week circa 1996, it was more than fitting he presented retrospective pieces as well as his resort collection.
Avant-garde designs swept the runway, and although it presented his evolution as a designer it also proved his craftsmanship is timeless.
