We Have Cause For Celebration — Alexa Chung Made an App That's Brilliant
So, we're not the only ones still obsessed with Cher's wardrobe computer — global style icon Alexa Chung is too. "I suppose that scene in Clueless where the computer puts an outfit together from Cher's wardrobe really stayed with me," she admits. Because of this Alexa has developed an app to help us get dressed in the morning. Brilliant.
Meet Villoid, an app that lets you put together outfits using your own photos, other people's posts and products from brands on the app (think Acne Studio, Asos and Nike). While creating your own inspirational outfit board you can also look at others — hitting the Love and Follow buttons along the way, just like Instagram. Then there's the "buy" button — find something you like in someone's post, click, and you can get it then and there — which makes for a super streamlined shopping experience.
Of her creation (Alexa is the co-founder and creative director), she says, "Clothes are fun, making mistakes is fun, being inspired is fun. Villoid celebrates the process of getting dressed and showing your friends." Kind of like window shopping made into a social game.
The app is now available globally on iPhone and on Android later in the year.
