The best part of Australian Fashion Week (apart from the street style, of course!) is spotting fresh trends — and this year, there were plenty. We saw rouched sleeves on almost every runway, and deconstructed shirting was explored even further by Bec & Bridge and Anna Quan.

While we're big supporters of those slightly more out-there pieces though, we appreciate they aren't for everyone. A specific colour on the other hand, well, that's something we can all get behind — whether it be in a big or small way.

We tapped Chelsea Power, studio buyer for MATCHESFASHION.COM, to name the colour she thought ruled the runways last week . . .

"Red. So much Red! Everything from the clothes (as seen in Michael Lo Sordo, Strateas Carlucci, Akira and Kit X) to the set (Macgraw's red carpet and Romance Was Born's mirrored floors). Michael Lo Sordo did red the best this season." said Chelsea. "There is a growing need for bold colours, no one wants to go out in black anymore. More and more of our customers are experimenting with colours and I'm all for red. I love a red-on-red combo!"
