You see, it's about them boots. Karl Lagerfeld always has a way of making us lust after the most unlikely pairings. This time, it's in the way of ornate, embellished ankle boots paired back with tweed, wool and silk. Who woulda thought that a couture collection minus dramatic gowns could make such an impact? For Fall, Lagerfeld played with proportions to give tapestry-detailed dresses and heavily embellished coats and skirts a modern twist. There were cropped tops and coats mixed back with peplum skirts; full sleeves worked with pencil shapes; and a healthy dose of mixed hemlines thrown in for good measure. Homage was played to Coco Chanel via a golden lion and half-model, half-lion carefully displayed on the runway to represent her Leo star sign. Fierce? You bet.
