Chanel's Spring 2017 Runway Show Was Playful, Pretty and Boyish All At Once
When it comes to Paris Fashion Week, Chanel is the pinnacle. Never failing to present exquisite collections against unforgettable sets, its easy to understand why Chanel's shows are the most coveted on the schedule.
This sentiment rang true on Tuesday evening when the French fashion house presented it's Spring 2017 offering to fashion royalty at the Grand Palais in Paris. Inside what looked like a data centre, against a clash of candy-coloured electrical cords and computer processors, Karl Lagerfeld sent an equally technical collection down the runway.
Chanel's iconic tweed twin sets dominated, but weren't as ladylike as seasons past. While the suits were lolly-coloured, even pastel sometimes, and layered over pretty sheer separates, the silhouettes were oversized and paired back with caps worn to the side, offering an androgynous vibe. Other pieces were painted in digital, futuristic-style prints, hinting that Chanel will always be one step ahead.
Jewellery was key with long, bold pendants and extra-large earrings often worn together.
