In the lead up to next week's RAFW madness, we were able to catch up with one of our favourite designers Karla Spetic. We talked to her about the secrets of surviving Fashion Week, and what we can expect to see sent down her runway next Monday evening.
What's your usual starting point for a new collection? I look to whatever I'm inspired by at that moment. It could be anything. The rest is a natural progress of sourcing raw materials, custom dyeing colours, developing prints, shapes and silhouette. It usually all comes together in the last minute but the development is what takes a long time.
What will the Karla Spetic girl be wearing come Summer 2012? Bold colour and print. Clean lines.
Survival tips for Rosemount Australian Fashion week? Flat shoes are a must.

What's your favourite part of RAFW? Seeing interesting personalities emerge with their unique and different styles. I find it very refreshing. For example Susie Bubble and Tommy Ton.<strong>
Any other designers you're keen to see show? </strong>I would love to see so many but I think I will go into hibernation after Monday!<strong>
Your 2010-11 collection was über femme; is femininity central to your aesthetic? </strong>Yes very much so. But I love to mix masculine/boyish silhouettes with feminine.<strong>
When do you feel most inspired? </strong>When I see something off beat I a beautiful way. Something not quite right but so right at the same time. I like a point of difference. It's exciting.
