BMW Kicks off the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival in Style!
Giddy up! The Autumn Racing Carnival kicks off this Saturday in Sydney with Myer Ladies Day — will you be attending? To get you (ok, us), up to speed with what's hot and what's not in terms of trackside style for 2012 we asked one of this year's fresh faces for the BMW Sydney Carnival, Bridget Abbott (yes, of Tony Abbott lineage), some pointed fashion questions. After holding court at the BMW Sydney Carnival launch on Monday she kindly obliged us. Stay tuned, because we also hit up brand ambassador Jesinta Campbell for her racing style guide too — which will be coming soon!
What is your sure-fire race day outfit? A gorgeous classic dress cinched in at the waist teamed with a felt hat, and great accessories. I tend to stick to solid, block colours rather than busy patterns.
Are you hat or fascinator kinda girl? For Autumn a felt head-piece is essential. I prefer a classic, understated fascinator with a simple moulded base and added detail. However, if you can pull off bolder equestrian-style hats or fabulous fedoras, you should go for it!
Which designers can we expect to see you wearing trackside? I am loving everything from Jayson Brunsdon at the moment, and Nicola Finetti has some amazing pieces. I am also really liking the colour palette from Bianca Spender's collection.
How did you get involved with the BMW Sydney Carnival? I have always been a fan of the races. My dad has taken me along and it's a great day out whether you go with friends or family. Like most girls, I love dressing up and placing a few bets, so when the opportunity came along I didn’t hesitate!
