As the Louis Vuitton show started, holographic faces were projected onto the runway, inviting the audience to travel across the universe. Nicolas Ghesquière was here to take us on a futuristic journey to another galaxy.
The trip began with models marching down the runway in knit dresses, tied up to their throats with contrasting ribbons. Spaceship Louis Vuitton then passed a planet of pop culture with lipsticks, cars, and blow dryers printed on dresses, tops, and pants. As the journey continued, the passengers entered a world of boho chic in ruffled little white dresses. If that was the universe of daywear, Ghesquière radically changed course to the dark side for evening, where models sparkled in sequinned dresses. Lastly, the audience landed on a planet that was reminiscent of the '70s, with plenty of velvet on quilted suits, pants, and even a bikini.
The destination might have been unknown and the journey futuristic but Ghesquière definitely stayed true to his and the house's codes by inventively mixing precious materials such as leather, crocodile, and ostrich. The popular mini-trunks from the past show made a comeback, and also the boots with monogram flower heels will surely make their way onto the season's list of must haves. If this is what the universe looks like, who wants to come on an intergalactic shopping spree?
