Lutz & Patmos and Jasmine Di Milo to Close
Global Watch: RIP Fashion Brands
It's always sad to learn that a fashion label is shuttering and this week seems to be particularly inauspicious for certain heavy-weight international labels. The designers behind the much-loved New York cashmere label Lutz & Patmos (made famous by its celebrity collaborations with Jane Birkin and super model Natalia Vodianova) are splitting after 10 years in the biz. Tina Lutz and Marcia Patmos are reportedly pursuing different paths, with Lutz focusing on design and brand consulting, whilst Patmos is launching her new line, M.Patmos, for pre-spring.
Across the pond, Jasmine Al Fayed is delivering her swan song Jasmine di Milo collection to Harrods (daddy's former department store) and Liberty before ceasing production. A big surprise for industry insiders given the London label made an astounding multi-million dollar profit last year, not to mention the fact that it boasts an enviable celebrity following; think Kristen Bell, Kristen Stewart, Isla Fischer, amongst others. The fate of her babywear line, JDM — which was inspired by her role as a new mum — remains up in the air.
