Marc Jacobs says no to celebrities attending his Fall show
Marc Jacobs: Celebrities Need Not Apply
Sorry A-listers, your presence is simply not welcome at the Marc Jacobs show this year. The designer's business partner, Robert Duffy, has revealed to Style.com that "they're not into the celebrity thing," with Lady Gaga and Madonna making surprise appearances at last year's show. "She [Madonna] came backstage and I was like, "What do you do with her now? You know what I mean? Because it's not like she was invited. She just called and said she was coming, and we weren't holding the show for her. She just came and that was it."
While there is no denying celebrities draw a huge amount of publicity for attending shows, it's nice to hear a designer shun the celebrity spotlight and just focus on the clothes. Do you think this is a step in the right direction?
