Marvellous, Mario! Scope Testino's First Fashion Collab, for Net-a-Porter
This is something we didn't see coming; Mario Testino fashion designer. We are more than aware of the Peruvian super-snapper's God-like status within the fashion industry — his iconic editorial spreads and advertising campaigns have filled many a inspiration board during his illustrious career — but thanks to Net-a-Porter this is the first time we've been able to wear his creative vision. Photographs from Testino's "Alta Moda" exhibition, which is currently on show at the Avenido Pedro de Osma in Lima, Peru, have been blown up, abstracted and printed on a capsule collection of t-shirts, kaftans and bags, as well as interpreted into traditional folkish jewellery by jeweller Vicki Beamon.
The range will go on sale this month via Net-a-Porter and 20 percent of the net proceeds will go to Testino's not for profit organisation MATE — which seeks to cultivate and promote the Peruvian arts community. Holli Rogers, Net-a-Porter's fashion director, said of the unique collaboration, "We are huge fans of Mario’s photography and are delighted to be able to offer our customers the opportunity to wear his works of art. The colour and detail in the Peruvian costumes are unbelievable and this has paved the way for a fun range of clothing, bags and jewellery.”
