Australia's Next Top Model might need to watch its back with the announcement that another model-discovering format is coming to Australia — and one of the world's biggest supermodels is attached. Naomi Campbell is coming Down Under to launch and star in the local production of The Face, which will be produced by Shine Australia and air on Foxtel (the same crew behind ANTM). While the shows have the same goal — find someone who can be a success in the modelling industry — there are some key differences in their formats. The Face adopts the mentoring system seen on shows like The X Factor, where three major models guide a group of models through the weekly challenges. In the recent US season that aired, Naomi was joined on TV by fellow beauties Coco Rocha and Karolina Kurkova.
Naomi is looking forward to seeing the girls in this country, saying, "Having found amazing girls in America and the UK, I can't wait to see what talent Australia has to offer." She backed the format of The Face and described what she looks for in a model, adding, "The show is a real insight into the modelling world — it's authentic, fast-paced and gives our aspiring models a taste of what it is really like. We're trying to find contestants who have the whole package — a beautiful face, great body, unique look, confidence, drive and passion, the ability to change and transform, a willingness to follow direction, and, above all, a strong work ethic."
