The crowning jewel in the haute couture crown is always seeing what Karl Lagerfeld will present for Chanel. Staying true to the French fashion house's refined aesthetic, Mr Lagerfeld showed a pared back couture collection, reigned in by streamlined silhouettes, subtle structure via hard shouldered T-shirt shapes, and long diaphanous floor sweeping skirts in fishtail shapes. The colour pallette too was restrained, ranging from ivory to navy blue and inky black. Elegantly done graphic prints and flapper-esque sequinned embellishment added interest to Karl's ladylike vision. Sophisticated, elegant and oh-so refined, the Chanel couture customer will be suitably impressed.
