New York Fashion Week's first day is up and running! BCBGMaxAzria woke us up with a bang; we've already drooled over Richard Chai Love's lesson in laid back luxury, AND fallen in love with Vena Cava's always-on-trend presentation — all before lunchtime. Now it's Jenni Kayne who's got our attention. The designer sent a modern interpretation of elegance down the runway today, showing a collection that's equal parts classic to cool. Again, we saw long and lean silhouettes on the catwalk (looks like the maxi is here to stay!), and fluid fabrications like silk made for a feminine contrast against harder edged separates in leather, tweed and all over sequins. The standout for us were the rich, but refreshing colour combinations; maroon, mustard, midnight blue, blush, and neon pink all worked together in a perfect modern harmony. Our verdict? It's a winner. Now, can it hurry up and get cold already?
