Proenza Schouler's 2010 Fall Fashion Week Collection
2010 Fall New York Fashion Week : Proenza Schouler
It's not often I use the words 'naughty schoolgirl' in relation to fashion, but Proenza Schouler designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez seem to have taken some inspiration from the playground. What else explains the buttoned-up shirts, preppy blazers, ribbed jumpers and pinafore-style dresses which were presented to us for Fall? They sound harmless enough, but teamed with knee-high socks, leather bustiers, and platform booties, the look isn't as innocent as it seems.
After teaming with denim company J Brand, it wasn't suprising to see so many denim pieces worked into the range, updated with painted splats and grafitti-style prints. Fall's controversial fabric du jour — fur — also featured in a variety of coloured trims and jackets, and bubble-hem printed dresses added a playful touch to the overall vibe. I was a little undecided about this collection, but the green printed tunic and cute duffle coats are starting to sway me. See what you think in our gallery.
