LIFEwithBIRD Celebrates 10 Years In Style: S/S 2012-13
A grey morning provided a soft launch for the first runway show of the Spring/Summer 2012/13 season, with LIFEwithBIRD's off-schedule Fashion Week show. The charcoal concrete beams above the catwalk gave an intimate yet steely vibe to the attic-like Utzon Room at the Sydney Opera House, echoing the femme/utilitarian dynamic of the clothes. This was LIFEwithBIRD's 10th anniversary show and there was an understated confidence which shone through, by way of understated lines and the custom-prints which were inspired by the Australian landscape. The patterns were pretty in pastels but made modern in high-tech fabrications, tailoring was relaxed, and the silhouette was sleek but unrestricted in the most luxurious of ways. As designer duo Bridget McCall and Nicholas Van Messner took their bow, their relaxed smiles said it all. These are clothes for those who are truly comfortable in their own skin.
