At last! It's no secret that we've been waiting with bated breath for Marc Jacobs to show his main line collection at New York Fashion Week....and here it is! Marc's vision for A/W 2011 is typical of his unique design aesthetic — something old made new thanks to his eclectic fashion references and wild imagination. Prim polka dot skirt suits were given a futuristic makeover via high shine wedge moon boots, floral lace appliqué peplum skirts were worked back with furry clutches, rust coloured lace dresses worn with industrial looking gardening gloves and patent breast plates, and disc-linked pencil skirts were dressed down with lurex zip-up hoodies. Crazy, beautiful stuff. Each look could be broken down into incredibly wearable (and cool) pieces, but together these ensembles made for a high fashion fantasy. Mixing his trademark kookiness with a dash of ladylike style, Marc has succeeded in designing a collection for women who appreciate timeless elegance, but still like their clothes fashion forward.
