Shopbop's Australian Story: First Look at Bambi Northwood-Blyth in Benny Horne Shoot, Edited by Zanita

First Look at Shopbop's Australian Style Special

It's nice when others start to recognise what we've known for a long time; Australia has some brilliant designers. Shopbop is firmly in our corner, shining the shopping spotlight on some of our home-grown fashion heroes in their 'Australian Story' look book . It's an all Aussie collaboration, employing snapper Benny Horne, model Bambi Northwood-Blyth and guest edited by the lovely Zanita. And the threads? Stand-out pieces from sass & bide, Willow, Ksubi, Zimmermann, Dion Lee, Bec & Bridge all made the grade. We were lucky enough to quiz Shopbop's fashion director Kate Ciepluch on the e-tailer's Antipodium angle.

Keep reading to hear what Kate had to say . . .

Describe Australian style in five words? Versatile, colourful, modern, fresh, eclectic.
Have you noticed an increase in customer interest in Australian labels — and if so, why do you think that is? Yes there are now a lot more Australian designers available in the market, and Australia has become an important fashion destination.
What Aussie labels do you wear: All the ones we have at Shopbop!
How did you come across Zanita? Zanita has been a voice for Australian fashion and she is a wonderful photographer; we are fans!
What style tips do you think the US could learn from Australians? Mix and match, have fun with your style and clothes, don’t be afraid to contrast minimal with eclectic... and don’t forget to accessorize!
You must travel a lot for in your role — how do you pack for Fashion Week’s abroad? Definitively understand the conditions. This past Paris F/W (season) it was 80 degrees (farenheight)! I was so glad I brought shorts. Everyone was dying of heat in their winter items. I tend to pack a few really special stand-out items and lots of versatile things that are easy to mix and match. Classic blazers, hats, and booties are always with me when I travel.
