Spring 2011 New York Fashion Week: Rachel Roy
2011 Spring New York Fashion Week: Rachel Roy
Season after season, Rachel Roy caters to more than one type of woman. She doesn’t corner herself into one defining trend, colour, or mood — and we are all luckier for it. Her latest presentation was split up into two capsules: ready-to-wear and her trench coat line. In the trench scene, all styles were tailored, belted, and buttoned to perfection. As for the rest of the collection, Roy made chic, wearable cocktail dresses, A-line shirts, maxiskirts, and blouse/pant combos in luxurious silk and jersey fabrics. It had a total '50s housewife meets '90s vibe to it. She used everything from white, tan, and black neutrals to shiny silvers, retro multicolour prints and metallic blues. The footwear — see-through, ankle-strap, peep-toe heels — was also a highlight. Looking drop-dead gorgeous with minimal effort, that’s what Rachel Roy allows us to do best.
