This Is the H&M of Japan — and It Just Opened In Australia!
Like Swedish retailer H&M, and Spanish store Zara, Japan's answer to affordable high street fashion, Uniqlo, has (finally!!) just opened its doors in Melbourne — and boy are we excited. So, what is Uniqlo? You might not be as well acquainted with this high street Japanese retail giant, but Uniqlo launched back in 1983 and has more than 1,300 stores across the world. So, it's kind of a big deal.
Doors opened at 10.00a.m. Wednesday at 287 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne, revealing a massive 2,180 square metre, four storey store. More than 320 retail staffers have been hired to work the new store alone.
Famed for luxe-looking basics with super-affordable price tags (we're talking Merino wool jumpers under $30), countless colour options and collaborations with Jil Sander and Suno, the Australian store will offer the best of Uniqlo internationally, including threads for women, men and kids. Keep scrolling to take a virtual tour through the new store. And if you're keen to see the best new buys available in store, step this way.
