Recent reports suggest major US retailers including Gap, Abercrombie & Fitch and Forever 21 are scouting Australian shores for possible store locations, with some expected to open as early as next year.
International retailers are being lured down under thanks to our "remarkable similarity." Retail analyst Rob Lake told Smart Company recently, "We speak English, we have a similar wealth profile and we're easy to do business with." Local shopping centres are attempting to attract brands such as Victoria's Secret, Topshop and H&M, with the new Centrepoint development in Sydney extending an invitation to British luxury goods store Harvey Nichols.
