Topshop's Head Buyer on the Office Staples All Petite Women Should Own
When it comes to fashion, petite women have it tough. If you're 5'3" and under (like me), you'll know the likes of cropped pants, midi skirts and long coats don't naturally sit well with your body type. You'll also know what it's like to be besties with the local tailor, furiously scour the petite lines of labels for a fun-sized version of your favourite pieces, and gaze on the legs of Karlie Kloss with envy.
Naturally, office dressing becomes tricky. In an environment where confidence is one of your greatest assets, style can play a major part in how you project yourself. So, we consulted Topshop's head buyer, Toni Baston, on the staples every petite woman should have to look and feel their best at work. Just keep this one rule of thumb in mind while you shop: "It's always safe to steer away from a full look of oversized pieces and excessive layering," Toni says. "The key is playing with proportions and to make sure you're balancing silhouettes."
