The 2020 American Music Awards brought out plenty of celebrities to the red carpet, even if the show was broadcast virtually and the carpet was rolled out backstage. As we know from enjoying plenty of socially distanced ceremonies, the show must go on. In fact, stars like Jennifer Lopez, Dua Lipa, and Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox (who made their public debut as a couple) got all dressed up ahead of the event for a prerecording, working with their teams to turn out outfits that brought plenty of sparkle.

From Dua’s spring 2021 Versace minidress – a colorful design with a flirty hemline, swirling starfish, and a seashell bust – to J Lo’s low-slung Balmain skirt and the LaQuan Smith bodysuit she later changed into, there was plenty of shimmer to see. Of course, host Taraji P. Henson was queen, arriving in a Giorgio Armani beaded shift with fringe embellishment, setting the bar high for what became an evening filled with some very cool looks, whether we saw them on stage, on Instagram, or on the carpet. Ahead, see every angle of these major fashion moments brought to life by celebs and their stylists, all in the name of celebrating the year’s really great music.
