Why is it that the simplest wardrobe pieces are often so hard to find? From my recent shopping experiences I've found that, say, a one shoulder dress with a blouson skirt and removable, jewel encrusted, obi belt are everywhere, but pieces as simple as a basic tee and anorak are almost impossible to find?
I've been searching for an easy, throw on, lightweight anorak for a while now, but my hunt is no closer to ending than it was a few weeks back. I've searched high (Net-a-Porter, Shopbop, Vanessa Bruno, Marni), and low (Witchery, Country Road, Sportsgirl, Forever New), but NADA! Surely the humble anorak can't just be a fashion mirage?
I did experience heartache a while ago when I thought I found the perfect style at Topshop. It was the exact shade of khaki, the right mid-length, and a nice, slouchy but fitted style. I proceeded to checkout with a huge spring in my step, only to be emailed a day later with news that the item had sold out! Distraught much?
If only I could steal the one worn by a lovely lady on the Sartorialist recently...which actually looks a lot like my Topshop find. Hmmmm.
