We Need to Talk About the Shoe Heaven That Is AAFW 2021

Afterpay Australian Fashion Week continues after a cracking first day. On May 31, we witnessed the fashion community reunite after a year spent indoors and revelled in the enviable street style, runway show trends, and inspirational beauty looks.
At times it was hard to look away from the BHE (big hair energy), but when we could tear our eyes away from ’70s waves and bouffant quiffs, it was to marvel in the shoe candy.
The Rebecca Vallance 10-year anniversary show as well as Alice McCall’s ‘Discoteca’ display both brought memorable shoe moments, making the most of the latest trends in footwear, including knee-high boots, retro platforms, and eye-catching diamontes.
Rebecca Vallance
The wide-fit knee-high boot made for the perfect complimentary accessory to Rebecca Vallance’s stunning resort ’22 collection. With a stiletto heel and a pointed toe, these babies elongate the legs and flatter mini dresses and skirts.
And when it came to colour, bolder was better. The stylists made colour blocking statements, pairing sleek black looks with glittering emerald green.
Neon appears to be a running motif this AAFW, with the ’80s colour trend appearing in collections and beauty looks from a number of designers.
The Rebecca Vallance show also brought out these sweet velvet pumps. Adorned with oversized bows with a diamonte trim, it’s a cute and fun way to accessorise more formal looks.
Alice McCall
Alice McCall went big on the shoes to complement its Discoteca collection. this time, it was all about the thigh-high boot.
