Keep Warm and Stay Cute With These 5 Genius Scarf Hacks

With so many ways to tie a scarf and so many fresh hacks constantly coming out, it can be overwhelming. You need to find something that works for your style and the season, as well as the scarves you have in your wardrobe.

That said, these are five of our favourite ways to tie a scarf, all from TikTok.

Side Knot

But not just any knot. This side knot style of tying a scarf is much more of a feature moment, as well as being less bulky than your classic knot.

This would work best with a semi-thick winter scarf (like this Arnsdorf Anne Knit Scarf $390) that you’d like to feature as part of your outfit. You could wear a tonal scarf that matches your outfit, or a coloured scarf as a pop of colour within a darker winter outfit.

As a Top

You can use this hack all year long. For summer, you could simply wear this as a halterneck top with nothing underneath. In winter or the cooler months, you can layer the scarf over the top of a shirt, then layer on top with a coat or jacket (as in the below video).

Not only is this a fun way to wear your colourful silk scarves (like this Sportscraft Flora Square Silk Scarf $119.99), but it also works as a belt of sorts; sinching in your waist if you’re wearing something oversized underneath.

European Knot

The European knot is another style of knot, that sits at the front rather than the side. This knot is super classic, but if you don’t know it already, it will totally change the way you wear your long scarves.

In the below TikTok from @tatiana.piper, the European knot is the first knot she ties.

Double Loop

The double loop is certainly something you’ve seen before, but might not know how to do. It gets rid of the end of the scarf, to make it look like a neat loop around your neck.

Wearing your scarves (like this Primness Waffle Scarf $140) in a double loop is really great for layering, as it sits nice and snug at the colour of a jacket or coat, instead of making you look chunky or spilling out the edges.

In the below TikTok, the double loop is the second way she ties her scarf.

As a Shoulder Poncho

This is something we’ve never seen before, but it’s genius. This TikTok user (claudyamoreira1), turns a thick, long winter scarf into a poncho by covering her shoulder and tying it together with a vintage brooch at the front.

You could do this with any long scarf, over the top of any outfit. It’s a great way to add an extra layer of warmth to your outfit. It looks classy and seamless.
