Seven to Shop: Including Go-With-Everything Sneakers and $60 Everyday Pants

Sangeeta Kocharekar

Each month, POPSUGAR Australia’s Lifestyle Editor Sangeeta Kocharekar shares the fashion pieces she’s eyeing or buying, and how she’s styling them in Seven to Shop. Note that POPSUGAR has affiliate and advertising partnerships so we might get revenue from your purchase.

A straw bucket hat, black strappy sandals and a terry jacket that’s light enough to work for Australian winters (well, Sydney winters), as well as chillier nights in summer, too. These are just a few of the clothes and accessories I wore again and again last month and would recommend as long-lasting, just-trendy-enough pieces to shop.

Ahead are the rest. As always with my picks, I’m going for styles you can get a few years of wear out of before they date and that will go with most pieces already in your wardrobe. So, here goes:

Uniqlo Easy Cargo Pants, $59.90

These pants were an impulse buy after I arrived in Tokyo and didn’t realise it was in fact summer (not winter like in Australia, where I’d come from). Someone else on the trip ended up buying these cargo pants too — she’d seen how many different tops I could wear them with. I got colour natural, but also I like black. The fabric is thin and airy.

Next Australia Black Forever Comfort Leather Quilted Loafers, $80

I’ve had these loafers for a year now, and I do have to say — they took a while to wear in. But now that they’re worn in, I wear them all the time, either with pulled-up socks for a preppy look or without and with jeans. They make any outfit I wear look more put together.

Merry People Tully Boot, $169.95

Ever since I got my own pair of Merry People boots, I’ve been seeing them everywhere in Sydney, mostly in solid yellow. This style uses two colours — black and white — and has a chunky sole. They’re comfy, with arch support for your foot, and waterproof so you can step through puddles. I’ve mostly worn them with leggings but they could work with cropped denim or pants, too.

Arms Of Eve Mirabel Bucket Hat, $98

Arms of Eve is best known for its jewellery — I love its multicoloured, beaded necklaces — but it also does hats and sunnies. I recently went to Vanuatu and wore this hat nearly every time I was in the sun. These days, I wear hats not only to look cute but also to protect my face from the harsh sun. I like that this hat can work for a casual beach day or a dressy brunch, and that it keeps its shape.

Glassons Linen Blend Skirt, $29.99

I wear this almost every weekend — it’s so easy to throw on and goes with so much in my closet. I’ve mostly been pairing it with baggy linen tops or collared blouses. If I’m wearing a baggy top with it, I’ll tuck the front part of the top into the skirt band and leave the rest out.

New Balance 530 Unisex, $160

I don’t know if I’ll ever tire of adding chunky dad shoes to any outfit. I wear these sneakers with pulled-up socks. I got the white with castlerock colour, but I also like the white with natural indigo.

Nike Womens Sherpa Jacket, $129.99

I haven’t owned a coloured jacket — in other words, a jacket that’s not black, white or camel — in years. So, I was surprised how often I wear this pale green one. I mostly wear it over workout wear, walking to Pilates or doing the Bondi to Bronte coastal walk. It’s fleece so light enough that I’ll probably wear it on any chilly nights in winter, too.
