Harry Styles arrived in style at the 2023 Brits. In a stark contrast to the bright and colorful outfits we’re used to seeing him wear during his “Love on Tour” shows, the singer went for a head-to-toe black look as he arrived at London’s O2 Arena. With input from his longtime stylist Harry Lambert, Styles’s black velvet suit – a Nina Ricci by Harris Reed piece – was still so much more than a suit.
The flared pants give a ’70 feel, while the textured blazer included a peplum, meaning the fabric is structured to stick out from the waist to create a dramatic silhouette. The design detail was particularly popular in the 2000s and is making a comeback. Style’s “Don’t Worry Darling” costar Florence Pugh made a case for the peplum just last week – yet the look has sparked debates among fashion-lovers across social media.
Now, we’ve come to know Styles is a fan of neck decorations. Feather boas make a regular appearance in his wardrobe, and so do an array of pearl necklaces. For the Brits red carpet, though, he opted for an oversize black organza corsage – and we mean oversize. The floral accessory ensured Styles’s outfit was not to be missed, while he added a stack of rings and a cross necklace to finish.
It wasn’t just his outfit that got fans talking, though. Speculation began to arise on social media about his hair and whether the darker shade was a lighting trick or newly dyed. One fan tweeted, “they 100% dyed his hair to go with the darker color pallete.”
It was a big night for Styles, who won four awards, including artist of the year, and performed during the evening. He opened the show with his hit single by wearing a red sequin crop jacket with no shirt, leaving his tattoos on display. He paired the look with wide-leg trousers before changing into a bottle-green suit with a sage satin shirt for the rest of the ceremony.
Styles’s appearance at the Brits comes less than a week after he wowed at the 2023 Grammys, wearing a custom-made Egonlab jumpsuit covered in Swarovski crystals. The brightly colored Harlequin-patterned jumpsuit brought joy to the red carpet. Later the “As It Was” singer changed into a silver crystal top, white cropped suit jacket, and beige wide-leg trousers to accept the best album Grammy.
